Strategy Consultant at Future Matters

Kyle is a Strategy Consultant at Future Matters, where they help companies, nonprofits and governments to reduce risks from emerging technologies, especially in artificial intelligence and biosecurity. Kyle brings 18 years of combined experience in consulting, policy, politics, and social movements. Prior to their work at Future Matters, they were a Communications Consultant at the Center for AI Safety. They also previously held policy and communications positions in Republican and Democratic administrations of the United States government and military, including serving then-Vice President Joe Biden as a speechwriter and press liaison.

Kyle worked for the largest network of climate organizations in the world, the public opinion research nonprofit Data for Progress, and co-founded an advocacy coalition at the United Nations climate negotiations. Originally trained in computer science, they hold degrees in biochemistry/biophysics and economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where they are the Institute’s only recipient of the federal government’s Harry S. Truman Scholarship, and in public policy and geophysical sciences from The University of Chicago.

Kyle previously managed consulting teams on nearly 100 projects for Fortune 500 and other large companies, advising them on research & development in software engineering, biotech, renewable energy, and more. Their research has earned over 1,000 citations. Kyle’s writings and interviews have appeared in newspapers, magazines, an award-winning documentary, TV, radio, and podcasts.
